Lara Langer Cohen is Associate Professor of English at Swarthmore College. She is the author of The Fabrication of American Literature: Fraudulence and Antebellum Print Culture and co-editor, with Jordan Alexander Stein, of Early African American Print Culture (both University of Pennsylvania Press, 2012). From 1992-1996 she edited the fanzines Runt and Oh Oh Cheri. More recent publications include essays on nineteenth-century amateur journalism, mourning poetry, and summer jams. Currently she is working on a book project, Before Subculture, about nineteenth-century undergrounds, literary and otherwise.
